NEWS VIDEO PROJECT

Hello everyone!

On September 14, 2023, the class was divided into some groups and each group should make a short news video. Each group got a different topic and we had to make five-minute videos. The group consists of three members and I belong to Aftidakiyah and Nike Ayu Fatimah. We got our each jobs, my job is presenting the news so I am a news anchor, Nike Ayu Fatimah is a reporter and Aftidakiyah is the informant. Our topic is about learning English with a game. NEWS ANCHOR: Good morning!

I’m Olga Kusuma Sari, from ABCD News Live, reporting on September 17, 2023. 

In this era, there are numerous resources available for learning English. One of the resources involves using games. Another resource is watching movies, These methods can be particularly helpful when people get bored with traditional methods when they studying English. There is also a report, on how English can help people in the workplace area. 

We begin with learning English through games at the Islamic State University of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. nowadays English has become an international language, which most of us need to be able to use it. but the fact that English is not our mother tongue in Indonesia, makes us need to learn it. there are many ways to make people engaged and interested in learning English. a student from Islamic State University made an innovation in learning English fields by using games as a tool to learn English. 

REPORTER: Thank you colleague Olga, and now I am on a campus that applies the English learning method with games, and beside me with Aftidakiyah as the student who made inovation this learning method.

REPORTER: Hello miss afti, how are you?

INFORMAN: I'm fine thank you.

REPORTER: Okay Miss Afti, I heard the information related to the lesson, what kind of advantages that u get from games?

INFORMAN: Through games, we can take the positive side such as learning to speak English which can be said to be learned unconsciously, for example in the opening of a game usually uses English such as "welcome to mobile legend". Then if the game we play is an online game we will definitely get opponents. or playing partners from foreign countries, that way we will communicate with them using the international language, namely English. Nowadays, most games use English, but the great thing is that users definitely know what the game commands mean, this can also be said to be learning English, with games students will be interested because learning will be more creative in presenting learning material.

REPORTER: I see, and what's else?

INFORMAN: Apart from that, games can also present learning material that is innovative, not boring, and makes it easier for students to understand English subject material.

REPORTER: Now, Can you give examples of games that can be used for learning? 

INFORMAN: From general games such as Mobile Legends, we can communicate in the messages contained in the game with people from abroad using English. Apart from that, many learning models now use application methods, such as Duolingo, etc. and of course we can access these applications easily.
