Sometimes we have to tell the truth even though it may hurt someone else. This statement is true because when people knows the truth from other people or discover it by themselves it will hurt them more, and it might be causing them to hate us. From “Flipped” we can learn how those statement works. Flipped is an American Romantic comedy-drama film that released in 2010. The director is Rob Reiner and the storyline based on Wendelin Van Draanen’s 2001 novel. The setting of the film is in 1961, and the main character in this film is Juli Baker and Bryce Loski.
On the day when Bryce Loski moved to his new house, Juli Baker was falling in love with him. They’re going to the same school, and she always try to approach to him. Juli has a chicken farm, and her farm produce many eggs. Some of her neighbour buy her eggs. She always give the Loski family free eggs, but unfortunately, they never eat the eggs because they afraid that the eggs infected by the salmonella.
Every time Juli brings eggs for Bryce’s family, Bryce always thrown away the eggs after Juli back to her house. He cannot rejecting Juli but he also cannot ignoring his family, so he always accepting Juli's eggs until Juli found that Bryce wants to throw the rubbish and her eggs is on the top of it. Bryce feels sorry about it, he try to explain that he doesn’t want to hurt her feeling, but Juli cannot accept it. To get forgiveness from Juli, Bryce always try to approach her, and at the end Bryce planting a Sycamore tree in fornt of Juli’s house and it works, he can talk to Juli again.
“Flipped” was directed by Rob Reiner which is also a talented actor. Rob Reiner is a good director with many film. One of his most famous film is “The Princess Bride” (1987). With all of his experience the “Flipped” can be delivered in a great way. The editing, the set, and the costume can brings to the 1960s vibes era. The acting from the actress also great, they look natural and can deliver the storyline well.
The quality of the film is great, and the storyline is also amazing. It has great message to deliver. This movie can be used as a tool to learn more about American life, and also it is great to used to learn English.
